Hello and welcome!

Artist statement
Wiltfried Pathuis is a Dutch watercolour artist and instructor living in Groningen, the northern part of The Netherlands.
His work is often serene with a mindful approach towards atmosphere, color and composition to capture the essence of nature, people and urban scenes.
Wiltfried likes to work plein air from direct observation mainly in the northern provinces of The Netherlands or when he travels abroad. Next to plein air he also works from his studio in his garden where nature is close.
He is an experienced draftsman/painter and honed his watercolouring skills by practise and attending several workshops online or in person of artists like Eudes Correia (BR), Dan Marshall (US), Jan Min (NL), Amid el Haddad (BE), Renato Palmuti (BR), Ale Casanova (ES), Marcus Beccari (BR) and Herman Pekel (AU). As of 2022 he started painting semi professionally. Wiltfried is also a volunteering drawing teacher at Industrial Design Engineering at Hanze University Groningen, The Netherlands.
As of 2023 Wiltfried became country leader for The Netherlands for FabrianoInAcquarello, Italy.

What others say about his work
Although Wiltfried has been painting as an Urban Sketcher and landscape painter for some time, he started exhibiting and framing his work not so long ago.
Atelier Horneman, Stefanie Ottens
Patiently and with attention to atmosphere, color and composition, he captures his surroundings. His serene watercolors come into their own in calm, simple frames.
